What Does A Real Estate Agent Do?

Real estate agents are all licensed professionals who have taken the necessary classes and passed their state's license exam. They all monitor local market activity, but assist buyers and sellers through their transactions in different ways, depending on which role the real estate agents take in the process.

Some of the responsibilities of a Real Estate Agent include:

  • Researching the local real estate market
  • Assisting to determine the asking price
  • Identify the key selling points of your property
  • Providing property disclosure form
  • Making marketing plan, pictures of the property for marketing
  • Adding your home to various internet listings including MLS
  • Adding your home to World-Realtor.Com and other sites
  • Local promotion such as placing a "For Sale/Rent" sign in your yard
  • Providing lockbox on your door
  • Coordination and palnning of visits / showings with potential buyers or rental clients
  • Ensure the property can be financed (e.g., pre-approval)
  • Holding an open house, if needed
  • Presenting offers from buyers and rental clients
  • Negotiating with client on your behalf
  • Arrange paperwork for closing procedure
  • Attending the closing / settlement, if applicable
